4.3 Students will collect, manage and analyze current and emerging technology-based resources to develop and produce their scholarly work.
Courses taken:
JAPN 403 - Pre-capstone
JAPN 404 - Advanced Japanese for presentational communication
Reflective Narrative:
4.1 Before going into the WLC 400 class, we had to go through a pre-capstone class that was intended to help us develop the skills we were going to need to create our capstone project. We learned how to use different search engines such as Jstor, EBSCO and google scholar. Being able to use them correctly meant that we could obtain valuable information to use in our final project at CSUMB.
4.2 JAPN 404 was a class designed for us to be successful when creating our Power Point Presentation to use In our Capstone project. We learned of valuable resources from our instructor, such as Rikai.com, reading tutors and other tools that helped us correct some of our mistakes. We were introduced to Japanese search engines in order to find scholarly articles useful for our capstone. I used it in order to expand my knowledge on the Japanese soccer league and its origins, as well as its core ideology. The class, all-in-all, was very helpful and useful.
4.3 Most of the work required for our Capstone project was completed through several software programs and online tools. We were introduced to google docs in order to create our survey which in the end was sent out to our contacts via e-mail, or Facebook or Line in the case of Japanese students sometimes. Finally, we resort to most of the Microsoft Office software such as Power point, word and excel in order to complete and add graphics to our presentations that made them easier to understand for everybody.
We used what we learned throughout our time at CSUMB to create this e-portfolio and capstone which you can see by visiting the corresponding Capstone Project page within this site.
